Dec 25th - This is Kyle's second Christmas. I can't believe all the progress he's made in the past few weeks, let alone the past year! Last Christmas we weren't sure if he could see at all and now he's grabbing and reaching for just about anything. He's imitating people's movements on TV and he was dancing to Elmo last week. He's jabbering and squealing all the time, smiling, laughing and giggling too. He nods for yes and shakes for no. He claps for doing something good. He doesn't wave hi and bye yet but that's something we will be working on next.
Kyle had his 18 month check up last week and his pediatrician was very pleased with his progress - both developmentally and feeding-wise. We showed him a few videos of Kyle eating and drinking and he saw it first hand that Kyle was able to push himself into sitting and moving around all over the place. He was not concerned at all about his recent weight loss during the weaning process and was 100% supportive of further reduction via the tube.
Kyle is eating and drinking more and we have taken another reduction in his tube feeds (he's now only getting 35% through his tube) a few days ago after getting the OK from his doctor. And he is now army crawling everywhere on the mat. He just started doing it a week or two ago but he would quit after 2-3 pulls because he would sit up instead. Yesterday was the first time that he actually did it consistently for an extended period of time and now he's pivoting, rolling, sitting, and army crawling everywhere! He is just so much more mobile now. Whenever he's figured something out he can't stop doing it! Now we just need him to figure out how to pull himself up to stand and take steps!
